Backpak Welder Specs.

The ZENA Backpak Welder
probably our most unique
"tool for remote locations"

Go-anywhere ZENA Backpak Welder
65 lb., 150ADC, 100% Duty Cycle

  .
Here's a low cost commercial duty welder that you can truly take anywhere!

There has never been anything like this incredibly lightweight go-anywhere welder -- a welder so compact that it's mounted on a fully functional backpack frame -- literally a backpack welder. Not surprising, since it has never before been possible to build commercial duty, x-ray quality, high power welders as small, and yet as incredibly powerful and reliable, as those made possible by ZENA, Incorporated's patented welding technology.

The ZENA Backpak welder is powered by a small, heavy duty 2-cycle gas engine originally developed to power military drone aircraft, industrial fire fighting pumps, portable concrete cutters, and racing go-carts -- which has been reconfigured to provide a perfect power plant for the ZENA welding system. One that will stand up to the rigors of work as rental equipment on remote construction sites!

It's a precision engine that produces enough power for high power 100% duty cycle welding, yet it's light enough so that when combined with our incredibly light and compact ZENA welding system, the entire weight of the Backpak welder, including the frame, pack straps, and 20’ of welding cables, is only about 65 lb.! And, like all other parts manufactured by ZENA for use in ZENA welding systems, the engine used in this incredible welder is also made right here in the United States of America by US Motor Power.

This is no toy -- it's a real workhorse! (for the price of a 20% duty cycle hobby welder)

As with ALL ZENA welding systems -- those designed for retrofit to existing engines, hydraulic drive units designed for use on aerial platforms, PTO drive units operating on farms, monster 800A multi operator pipeline welders, etc. -- this 150A, 100% duty cycle, backpack transportable, DC arc welder is designed for professionals who earn their living welding. Day in, and day out, in all kinds of weather, in locations that conventional welders can't begin to function, this unique welder will out perform, and out last, the big expensive commercial welders that it's designed to replace -- even though it sells for a fraction of the cost.

But, while cost, reliability, and performance are certainly key, the truly great thing about this welder is its incredible portability. Before this, portability in commercial duty welding equipment meant a 300-400 pound machine, about 200 lbs. of welding cables, and a big truck. Now it has an entirely new meaning.

This welder can go anywhere that you can walk or climb!

If you can get there there, your welder can get there! And, you don't need long, heavy welding cables!

For example, ride out with this backpack mounted welder strapped to your pack mule, pack horse, or ATV. When you get to the point where you can go no farther, don the welder, easily carrying it, by means of its fully functional backpack frame and strap system, to a job site where even your mule, horse, or 4x4 couldn't go!

You're not tethered to, or limited by, anything. Top quality, high power, commercial/industrial caliber welding can be accomplished anywhere, at any time, with no need to ever carry long heavy welding leads again!

This welder is even light enough to allow it to be easily lifted (or carried) to a work location high on a tower hundreds (or even thousands) of feet in the air.

This is also the first, and only, portable welder perfectly suited to efficient transport in small aircraft.

We have customers flying these units in small planes and helicopters to remote locations to make repairs (often to other aircraft), or do fabrication work, that previously could only be accomplished with large welders, and hundreds of feet of heavy welding cable, carried at great expense to the work site by large cargo helicopters (which, themselves, typically cost more to operate for a single hour that the cost to buy this incredible Backpak welder).

Maybe we should have called it a helicopter welder? Or, a bush plane welder?

Don't forget that we also have adapters for existing mobile MIG, or TIG, equipment That's right, with our TIG torch, MIG spool gun, or MIG spool feeder adapters -- or, with one of our ultra compact ready to go spool gun kits, you can also have the perfect airborne MIG welder or TIG welder!

The list of people who can benefit from this incredible welding machine is long indeed:

It's a perfect tool for loggers, forest workers, fence builders, sign installers, ironworkers, mechanics, blacksmiths, firefighters, conservationists, sailors, emergency service personnel, missionaries, off-roaders, 4x4 enthusiasts, and, of course, the guys who do almost all of these things almost every day -- farmers!

And, yes -- our Backpak welder can also be an ideal tool for the military. One which will, hopefully, save the lives of combatants and noncombatants alike. And, one which can also be easily used to help those unfortunate enough to be living in areas where conflict is, sadly, part of daily life.

Selected FAQ excerpts/notes:

NOTE: Similar engine driven welders are made by Miller, Lincoln, Hobart, Century, Esab, HTP, Mitsubishi, Thermal Arc, and other companies. When comparing specifications, you will find that our 150A Backpak welder is comparable to, and will do the same job as, for example, a Miller 225 Bobcat welder, a Hobart 250A welder, a Century 200A-250A welder, or a Lincoln Ranger 8 welder.

Of course, 160A, 175A, 180A, 275A, or even 300A, or 400A welders would be also in the same category. MIG and TIG torches made by companies like Miller, Lincoln, HTP, Hobart, Tweco, Ready Welder, and Forney are also compatible with our welders -- when used with the proper adapter.

NOTE 2: Do not confuse our patented welding systems with other underhood welders such as those made by Premiere Power, Mobi-Weld, Stellarc, Ready Welder, and others -- our welders are built from the ground up to weld and feature specifications which conform perfectly to international standards for arc welders -- make a careful comparison.
